Punong Guro Ken DeJesus, A certified instructor by Grand Master Remy A. Presas and Professor Angelo L. Albergo, Master Guro Ken DeJesus continues the tradition of educating the public to this unique method of self-defense.
Mr. Ken DeJesus began formal training in the martial arts in 1968 and has trained numerous students throughout the past 40 plus years and is the founder of the Philippine Martial Art Society.
The Philippine Martial Art Society was originally founded in Boston, Massachusetts in March of 1996 by Mr. Ken DeJesus. At the behest of Grandmaster Remy A. Presas, Mr. DeJesus moved the society’s headquarters to South Florida. As of 2011 the headquarters has moved back to Boston.
The Society’s mission is to educate the public at large of the benefits of training in the martial arts.
Mr. DeJesus’ inspiration for founding the society was born of the dedication, commitment, and passion for the martial arts that Mr. DeJesus is respected for and his desire to give that knowledge, that has been bestowed upon him, back to the community. In his own words, “You should try to have the open mind of a child…c’mon, it’s easy!”
Mr. Ken DeJesus has had the opportunity to train with one of the greatest Philippine legends, Remy A. Presas. He has also had numerous occasions to study other various Philippine related martial arts and to cross train with other equally proficient martial artists. And for the past 20 years continues to be personally mentored and guided by Professor Angelo L. Albergo. “The true martial arts are one and the same”, Mr. DeJesus frequently says. And the ease with which he makes friends and his ability to transcend the pettiness and small-mindedness of the martial path is testament to that statement!
His philosophy in the martial arts is simple and direct: “Martial Arts is a way of life, you cannot expect to confront an attacker and successfully manage to defend yourself unless you are properly trained. People have to learn true martial arts in order to adequately prepare themselves for possible confrontations in today’s ever increasing violent society.“ — Master Guro Ken DeJesus
